I just visited parc guell 2 days ago and we hurried to get there before 8 we arrived at 7 40 and tested your theory. Arrive before 8 am and you will likely see the sun rise while saving the admission fee.

Park guell is a public park and much of the park is free to the public however a small part called monumental zone housing many of gaudi s creation has an entry fee of 7. People would just walk in freely through the gates from carrer d olot since the guards weren t in their spots yet so to speak. Monumental zone is free in the morning before 8 am. With poor light there is a very low chance you will be able to visit this part at all.

After 8 am there will be a gate and park employees that are going to charge admission to those outside the main entrance. During this period the crowd hasn t picked up yet and your photographs won t have a lot of people. The monumental zone is free before and after the paid entry hours so before 8am high and mid season and 8 30 low season and after 9 30pm high season 8 30pm mid season and 6 15pm low season. Be advise that the park like all other parks is closed during the night so if you come too early or too late the whole park will be closed.

Walk around the free part of guell park for half an hour and then enter the ticketed area. I take my guests early in the morning by around 745 am and enter the monumental zone for free.
